Field Trips

Bob Ray entertains the kids with the shell game Nathan having fun at the Back-to-School potluck Kids love CHoSS events

Field trips are overseen by Lisa Weirauch. They are organized by volunteer parents and posted in the newsletter. Our goal is to offer at least two field trips a month.

As a member, you can participate in all field trips and actually have the opportunity to put together your own field trip and bring some members of the group along! These trips are always excellent learning opportunities and another of the many benefits of homeschooling. Sometimes it's hard to tell who has more fun, the parents or the kids!

Below are some of the guidelines that we follow when organizing field trips:

  1. Membership: Attendees cannot bring children from other families unless those families are also members of CHoSS.
  2. Reservations: All field trips require that reservations and payments be made in advance and attendance cannot happen without proper reservations. Each field trip, including free ones, will require a separate $5 refundable reservation charge per family. This charge merely lets us know that you fully intend to go, and if there is a limited number of kids allowed, your place will be held for you, so of course, your place is not guaranteed until your money is received. The reservation procedure is as follows: 1. Call the volunteer parent and check availability. 2. If space is available, mail your $5 check (payable to CHoSS) within three days. For free field trips, your $5 will be refunded at the trip location. If you fail to attend, the $5 goes into the CHoSS general fund.
  3. Cancellations/Refunds: If you need to cancel, please call as far in advance as you can. Your call may allow someone else to attend and will prevent the tour group from waiting for you. Refunds will be made if you give seven days notice before the scheduled event, with exceptions made for extraordinary circumstances.
  4. No Substitutions: If you have a reserved spot on the field trip and are unable to make it, substitutions are not allowed, so as to allow the next person on the list to go in your place.
  5. Deadlines: To keep a smooth running event, we enforce all deadlines.
  6. A parent must remain at the field trip with their children.
